Manitowoc County Fish & Game Protective Association held its 44th annual Sportsman’s Banquet Oct. 24 at City Limits.

The top five winners of firearms were as follow:

  • Grand Prize: Tracy Carviou, a Browning X Bolt Pro Tungston 7mm with Leopold Scope, Sling and Case;
  • Committee Select Prize: Nick Bradley, a Marlin 336 SBL 30-30;
  • President Select Prize: Robert Krause, a Weatherby Orion O/U 20-gauge;
  • Vice President Select Prize: Richard Lutze, a Stevens 555 O/U 16-gauge; and
  • Chairman Select Prize: Riley Dalebroux, a Stoeger M 3000 12-gauge Camo.

Gun Club, Pink Heals hold fundraising trap shoot

Manitowoc Gun Club and Pink Heals of Manitowoc County will hold a fundraising trap shoot Nov. 9.

Registration is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Cost is $30 to shoot with $5 going to Pink Heals and $5 going into the Lewis purse.

This is a 50-target event shot from the 16-yard line. They will have food, refreshments and fun for all.

Maribel club’s sight-in days are Nov. 2-3 and Nov. 9-10

Maribel Sportsman’s Club will hold its gun sight-in days Nov. 2 and 3 and then again Nov. 9 and 10.

The range will be open to sight in your deer rifles from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.

Cost is $5 per gun and includes the target and help with the sight-in process.

Maribel Sportsman’s Club is next to Interstate 43, exit 164, State 147, Maribel.

Viking Bow & Gun Club’s sight-in days are Nov. 9-10

Viking Bow & Gun Club, 13431 Rusch Road, Valders, is holding gun sight-in days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Nov. 9 and 10.

Also, Viking will hold its Sportsmen’s Rummage Sale from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Nov. 9. Tables are on a first come, first served basis. Set-up is 4-7 p.m. Nov. 8 and is one table per person.

Rifle & Pistol Club’s sight-in days are Nov. 9-10 and 16-17

Manitowoc Rifle & Pistol Club (north of Two Rivers between State 42 and County O on Viceroy Road at 7227 Sandy Hill Lane) will host its annual Deer Hunters’ Sight-In from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Nov. 9-10 and Nov. 16-17.

The event is open to the public. Register at the clubhouse. Admission is $5 per gun.

They will have 25-yard, 50-yard and 100-yard ranges in operation.

The facility features indoor range stations sheltered from the weather. Each range station is staffed with a spotter/coach when in use.

Lunch will be available inside the clubhouse.

Woodland Dunes plans Raising a Wild Child on seeds

Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve (3000 Hawthorne Ave., Two Rivers) will present its next Raising a Wild Child program Nov. 14. The program will focus on seeds.

Experience the wonders of nature with your 2- to 5-year-old child with nature hikes, play and guided activities. Help your child notice the natural world and ignite their curiosity.

The program will run in two sessions: Session 1 is 9-10:15 a.m. and Session 2 is 10:45 a.m.-noon.

Members are $2 per child and non-members are $3 per child.

Registration is required by the Monday before the event, and space is limited.

Children must be accompanied by an adult for this program. Those attending are encouraged to dress for the weather as a majority of the program takes place outdoors.

DNR plans public meetings on smallmouth bass management

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will host two identical public meetings to present information and gather feedback on the future management of smallmouth bass in Green Bay and northern Lake Michigan.

The first meeting will start at 6 p.m. Nov. 4 at the DNR Green Bay Service Center.

The second will start at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

The public can also attend virtually via Microsoft Teams.

DNR staff will present the latest smallmouth bass survey and research data and gather feedback on a proposed regulation change to expand the catch-and-release season.

Attendees are encouraged to share ideas, experiences and input on smallmouth bass management for Green Bay and northern Lake Michigan.
