WISCONSIN GOVERNOR EVERS Vetoes Two Sportsmen Bills

Governor Vetoes Two Sportsmen Bills

After successfully passing the legislature, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers used his veto power on the last two sportsmen’s bills that the Sportsmen’s Alliance had been reporting on at the end of last month.

Assembly Bill 512 would have repealed the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administrative code provision that generally prohibits a person from hunting or pursuing any free-roaming wild animal with the aid of a dog from May 1 to June 30 in a portion of the state north of certain east-west highways. The bills also repeal DNR’s administrative code restrictions on dog training and dog trialing on any free-roaming wild animal in that area and during that period. The Governor’s veto message can be read here.

Senate Bill 466 would have prohibited a financial institution, as part of a payment card transaction, from requiring the use of a merchant category code (MCC) that identifies the merchant as a firearms retailer. The bill also provides that the Department of Justice may not maintain a list of firearm purchasers based on information from background checks that DOJ performs, and that no governmental entity may maintain a list of firearm owners.  The Governor’s veto message can be read here.

Rest assured, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will be back in Madison next year working to defend and protect the sportsmen and women of the Badger State.

About the Sportsmen’s Alliance

Its mission is accomplished through several distinct programs coordinated to provide the most complete defense capability possible. NOTE:  My opinion only:  Governor Evers is following his God Joe Biden when he veto these bills. For most of you, you know I do not like someone screwing around with our 2nd Amendment Rights. So I hope you take this coming election very seriously, even if you don’t like either one running. I am voting for the lesser of two evils, and it sure isn’t Biden or any Democrat or Liberal. Never ever in my life again will I vote for anyone with a D in front of their name.
