My neighbor Dan Cowan went fishing on Tuesday December 16 on the Bay of Green Bay in the shipping canal fishing 6′ to 7′ down using smelt. He was out on the ice for about 1- 1/2 hours and once the flag went up he had the fish on the ice under a minute. Dan said he always wanted to catch and mount a Northern of a lifetime if 40″ or larger. He was fishing at around 10:30 am all by himself and he finally hit the jackpot, he pulled this 42″ Northern which weighing in at 20 lbs with a 20 inch girth. Dan did not waste any time, he is finally getting his Northern mounted for a lifetime of enjoyment in the house. Congratulations Dan!
