Wacky and neko rigs are top bass-catching presentations throughout the entire open-water season, but especially in spring and summer. St. Croix Ambassadors, Pat Schlapper and Bob Downey both earned  top-ten finishes – fifth and ninth places, respectively – at last week’s Bassmaster Elite at Santee-Cooper Lakes.

Cristian Simpkins keeps the wheels turning on the St. Croix Marketing Team. As Social Media Coordinator, Cristian takes lead on the Facebook & Instagram accounts for St. Croix Rods, SEVIIN Reels, Rod Geeks, & the St. Croix Factory Store, gathering and managing all content to drive angler engagement. But that’s just the start. Cristian is first point of contact for managing the St. Croix Rod and SEVIIN Reels Pro Staff, Guide Program, and Scholastic Programs, and also manages the brands’ presence and participation at trade and consumer fishing shows. “We’re an angler-driven company, and my job keeps me in direct contact with anglers in so many different ways,” he says.  “I love that, because everyone I come in contact with is just as obsessed with fishing as I am, including my teammates that I work with internally. It makes it easier to get things done the right way when everyone understands the passion and the mission, and it’s this daily communication with anglers that fuels everything we do as a company.” Cristian’s favorite species is smallmouth bass and his favorite rod series is LEGEND X2.
