Lots going on this month…..

Collins Marsh Fun Fest and Riddle Walk  June 13th 11am- 3pm. Rain date June 14th. Everyone is invited to participate in a Riddle Walk by visiting 10 locations along the trail near the Nature Center at Collins Marsh.  Solve nature related riddles, record your answers and return to the nature center for a chance to win a prize. Inside the Nature Center individuals will have the opportunity to interact and learn about a variety of live reptiles and amphibians. 

  • Food and refreshments will be available on the grounds
  • Kayak and canoe rentals are also available
  • Climb the tower, visit the butterfly and pollinator gardens 
  • Check out our new outdoor, self-serve, children’s Nature Discovery Center

Chimney Swifts   June 21st 1pm … Join us while Nancy Nabeck acquaints us with the chimney swift, nature’s “flying cigar” .  After the presentation we’ll check out the skies to see if we can spot the resident swifts performing their aerial acrobatics.

Help in the Gardens June 1st 9am-11am and June 15th 4pm-6pm. Plant annuals for nectar sources, perform general weeding and relocate stray native plants all while enjoying the resident purple martins and osprey, fresh air and views of Collins Marsh. Garden tools provided or BYO.

Marsh Trail Walk June 27th 9am-11am. We’ll continue visiting each of our walking paths and see what they have to offer.. Bring your binoculars, favorite nature apps and dress for the weather. Sturdy shoes, long pants and DEET repellent suggested to ward off ticks and mosquitos. This month- the Wood’s Edge Loop.  Meet at the DNR parking lot at 17998 Quarry Rd, Reedsville.

Conservation Education Inc (CEI) is an independent non-profit organization
formed in 1954 to promote conservation through education.

Today, CEI acts as the Friends Group of the Collins Marsh Wildlife Refuge and
serves many different functions regarding Collins Marsh and the Nature Center.
