Woodland Dunes Is Chilling!
Woodland Dunes is chilling this Saturday, February 19, when they’d ordinarily be holding their Tropical Blast Fundraiser. This year’s Tropical CHILL is in answer to the rising number of covid cases and keeping people safe.
“Because we care about nature, that includes human nature, so we’re inviting our guests and supporters to just CHILL at home this year,” said Nancy Nabak, coordinator of the Tropical Chill. The goal of the event is to raise over $30,000 to support nature-based education and important conservation efforts on the 1,500- acre Preserve.
Through tropical twists, people are invited to “not” attend this year and to send in a donation to support the Dunes.
“It’s a win for our guests – no cold car, no night driving and no dressing up!”
Supporters can participate in the Traveling Pineapple Raffle where with a $20 donation, a volunteer from Woodland Dunes will deliver a real pineapple with their raffle number to their home. Participants could win either a gas grill with meat, cheese and beer donated by Lindner Ace Hardware, or a $350 blue topaz jewelry set consisting of earrings, a ring, and necklace donated by Dalebroux Jewelry. Only 100 tickets are being sold. Winners will be drawn at noon on February 19 at Woodland Dunes Nature Center.
There’s also a fun tropical Wine Pull and a fantastic online silent auction that goes from Feb. 11-19th.
