Whitetails Unlimited Aids TSSA Fall Reduction Milestone
|
The Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation announced recently that the number of tree stand falls requiring emergency department care decreased by 65%. The decrease was determined by a baseline estimate established in 2010 and is also the lowest number since then. This by far exceeds the TSSA goal of a 50% reduction by 2023 in tree stand falls requiring emergency care.
Whitetails Unlimited’s has been a strong supporter of the TSSA since its inception. Most recently WTU granted $5,500 to the TSSA for educational pop-up banners that were provided to various states for use at hunter safety classes. The banners raise safety awareness when using the three main styles of tree stands; hang on, climber, and ladder stand.
“The Tree Stand Safety Awareness’s vision and goals aligns perfectly with WTU’s mission,” said Whitetails Unlimited Program Services Director Russ Austad. “A hunter’s physical safety is a top priority and every precaution to ensure that should be taken.”
