Umarex Chops the Hammer Model Down to Carbine Size — SHOT Show 2023
Umarex has had great success with the Hammer Model .50 caliber air rifle, but it was a bit cumbersome for some applications.
So obviously it made sense to develop a carbine version. This makes the rifle easier to hold up while shooting offhand, easier to maneuver while hunting, and a lot handier in confined spaces such as deer blinds.
The new. Hammer Carbine is 6.75 inches shorter than the original Hammer, so the overall length should now be 37 inches. The reduction in length of the Walther barrel also cut the weight from 8.5 lbs down to about 7.7 lbs. The barrel is threaded and has a sound-absorbing shroud for quieter shooting.

The Carbine utilizes a 4350 psi, 35-cubic-inch carbon fiber tank that is good for four regulated shots, and it comes with two of the Umarex patented two-shot magazines. The sub-3-pound trigger and Walther barrel make for an accurate rifle.
The aluminum Picatinny rail supports scope mounting, and a cocking handle is located on the right side of the stock that must be manually cocked for each shot. Velocity out of the shorter barrel is 790 FPS for the 350-grain slug and 670 FPS for the 550-grain.
A few quick shots at SHOT Show Range day proved the Carbine was accurate enough to make good shots out to 50 yards, but we may be getting one here at GunsAmerica to do a full review and take hunting ourselves.

The Hammer Carbine should be available by mid-year and is expected to retail for around $1,000, similarly priced as the original Hammer.
