Save the date for the GLC Annual Fundraiser
Saturday July 25th 2026 in Sheboygan County
A conversation with Great Lakes Author, Peter Annin, along the Sheboygan River

Let’s celebrate three decades of land and water stewardship!

The annual event offers opportunities to canoe the Area of Concern Sheboygan River and learn more about our restoration work along this river and Willow Creek Preserve. Enjoy cocktails and dinner, and have fun with our paddle raise and silent auction.

Author Peter Annin is a veteran conflict and environmental journalist. Peter Annin spent more than a decade reporting on a wide variety of issues for Newsweek.  He has also spent many years writing about the environment. In September 2006, he published his first book, The Great Lakes Water Wars, which has been called the definitive work on the Great Lakes water diversion controversy and received the Great Lakes Book Award for nonfiction in 2007.
In 2018, Annin published an extensively revised and updated edition of Water Wars, which was recognized with a Great Lakes Leadership Award in Communication Excellence from the Great Lakes Protection Fund in 2020.
In 2023, he published his latest book, Purified: How Recycled Sewage Is Transforming Our Water, which the prestigious journal Nature named one of the top five books of 2024.
He currently serves as executive director of the new Burke Center for Ecosystem Research. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University in New York.

Thank you to the lead sponsor, The Terry Kohler Family Foundation.

Membership renewal reminder

Remember, you can purchase one online today. https://www.glaciallakes.org/membership.html

Your generous membership donation enables GLC to conduct vital land and water health assessments on the properties we manage. Understanding what exists and what is missing is crucial for protecting these areas.

Additionally, your donations support our comprehensive Water Quality Monitoring Program. By measuring water health and surveying aquatic indicator species, we gain insights into the challenges we face in restoring streams and wetlands. Your membership donation helps support a growing staff and land management at our five preserves, and contributes to the time spent by our staff creating conservation easements in our five counties.
