Strawberry Creek Weir Report for October 2, 2019
The first Chinook salmon collections at Strawberry Creek for the 2019 season occurred on Wednesday October 2, 2019. A total of 576 Chinooks were processed for data. A couple hundred additional Chinooks remained in the pond at the end of this Oct 2 work day, to be processed during a future day. With high standing water and low flow at Strawberry Creek this fall, Chinook salmon egg collections during 2019 will occur at Kewaunee and the Root Rivers to meet WI DNR hatchery production goals, and Chinook salmon at Strawberry Creek will be processed just for data on upcoming Wednesdays including October 9 and 16. For additional information, please contact fisheries biologist Nick Legler at 920-746-5112 or nicholas.legler@wisconsin.gov.
