St. Croix Rods January Angler Newsletter

JANUARY ANGLER NEWSLETTER

Power & Finesse

South Florida guide, Dawson Wisner, provides insights on two specific GXR BASS rod-and-reel setups that cover a majority of  the big bass presentations he relies on day in and day out.

Longer Ice Rods are Trending

We’re developing and selling more 36″ ice rods in our Skandic, Mojo Ice, Panfish Ice, and CCI lineups than ever. Why? Because top anglers on our staff are asking for them due to a variety of meaningful benefits. Watch the video to learn why.

Optimize Your Gear Ratio

The new aluminum GXC is the most advanced casting reel in the SEVIIN lineup, but all SEVIIN casting reel series offer 6.6:1, 7.3:1, and 8.1:1 gearing options. Choose a slower, more powerful 6.6:1 reel for crankbaiting, or slow-rolling big spinnerbaits; a fast 8.1:1 reel for topwater fishing, frogging, flipping, or deepwater bottom-contact presentations, and a  medium-speed 7.3:1 reel for maximum versatility in the widest variety of presentations.

Don’t Try This at Home

Crafted from our new SCVII carbon fiber material with graphene, our Legend X2 series has been available since September. Anglers praise LX2’s extreme lightness, balance, sensitivity, next-gen machined-cork TRIGON handle, and Fuji Torzite guide train, as well as its off-the-chart strength and durability. There is absolutely zero reason for you to do this to any rod you own – much less your own Legend X2 – but go ahead and fish it as hard as you want… it’s engineered and crafted to be the

That One Rod

EVOS Salt is the most incredible St. Croix rod that relatively few know about. It’s our most-advanced saltwater flyrod series. LEARN what makes these tech-laden sticks so special.

Meet Our Machinery: Rachael Radlinger

Home-winding is a part of St. Croix’s unique history and culture. Each week, 34 home-winders – skilled craftspeople who apply the thread wraps to the Best Rods on Earth – drop off completed rods and pick up new batches to take back to their home-based workstations. Rachael Radlinger joined the St. Croix Family as a home-winder in 2013. Because of her incredible work ethic and attention to detail, Rachael was promoted to Home-winding Coordinator last year. She now works full-time in our Park Falls factory, setting up all home-winders each week with the rods, componentry, and supplies they need, entering data into the system, and answering questions. She also leads training for new winders and has the pleasure of winding prototypes and sample rods for Engineering.  Her favorite part about St. Croix? “The amazing atmosphere, and working with some really great people,” she says. Rachael loves fishing as much as she loves winding rods. Her favorite species is largemouth bass, and her favorite rod is the retired Avid Pearl Series. Help us in thanking and recognizing Rachael for the great work she does on behalf of our anglers!
