Subject: Eagle Shooting Generates Reward Fund
The recent shooting of a Bald Eagle in the Mishicot area is generating concern and action in the sporting and conservation community. There has been significant discussion in several meetings of the 25 organizations that make up Manitowoc County Fish & Game. Don Kiel approached members of Manitowoc Fish & Game and pledged $1,000 reward in Memory of his late father in law, Andy Endries, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who shot the bird on or about December 7, 2018.
“We need to send a message that this is not acceptable in our community”, said Geoff Wolf, President of the Manitowoc Unit. “We are pleased to partner on this and we will be discussing adding to the reward fund at our next unit meeting in March.” A number of organizations have the reward fund on coming meeting agendas and it expected to rise in the weeks ahead.
Founded in 1907, Manitowoc County Fish & Game is recognized as a leader in conservation in Wisconsin and served as a model nationally. The organization works to protect the rights of sporting men and women and promotes conservation and related education. They have partnered on most of the public accesses on area inland lakes and has 450 acres of property across the county for public use.
Please call or text the Wisconsin DNR Violation Hotline at 1-800-TIP-WDNR or 1-800-847-9367 if you have any information on the incident.
