Today, the California Department of Justice issued a “Notice of Modification” to their proposed regulations regarding the soon to be implemented ammunition background check procedures. As a result of these changes, a second 15-day public comment period has been initiated. We are currently reviewing the proposal and will update members on the effect of these changes. |

On April 22nd, the Maine State and Local Government Committee will hold a hearing on Legislative Document 1470. LD 1470 would weaken Maine’s preemption laws to allow local municipalities to create a patchwork of laws, including prohibitions on where law abiding citizens may carry. |
