| On February 12th, the Missouri state Senate Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee voted to pass Senate Bill 39 to allow law-abiding citizens to carry firearms for self-defense on public transit. It has been placed on the Senate informal calendar and can be brought up at any time for consideration on the floor. |

| Democratic legislators are unveiling new measures that build on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act, approved after last year’s February 14th shooting. That law raised the age to buy a long gun to 21. It added a three-day waiting period to buy guns and bans bump stocks. Other bills expected to be discussed include a ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and standard-capacity magazines, expanded background checks and allowing schools more flexibility to use state money to harden schools. |

| Democrats say they will reintroduce a ban on standard capacity ammunition magazine ban on Tuesday. The Democratic legislation, cosponsored by Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida and Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, would ban any magazine that exceeds 10 rounds of ammunition. The legislation, which has been dubbed the “Keep Americans Safe Act,” currently has no Republican cosponsors, one of many obstacles that would stand in the way of it advancing. |

| The gun rights groups suing to overturn the voter-approved gun safety initiative I-1639 have refiled the suit, naming new defendants, including the Spokane police chief and the Clark County Sheriff. The National Rifle Association and the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation filed the suit against the state and attorney general in November, claiming that I-1639 violates the U.S. Constitution. SAF spokesman Alan Gottlieb said Tuesday that the suit was refiled to exclude Attorney General Bob Ferguson. |

| On February 11th, the Indiana state House of Representatives voted 80-13 to pass House Bill 1284 to enhance protections afforded to law-abiding citizens acting in defense of themselves and others. HB 1284 will now go to the state Senate for further consideration. |

| The Oregon legislature is considering a range of gun control bills this session, including mandatory storage legislation, bans on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines as well as limits on the amount of ammunition gun owners could purchase. |
