Woodland Dunes Nature Center is joining in the celebration of our great outdoor trails this June 3rd by offering free guided hikes throughout the day to honor National Trails Day, sponsored by the American Hiking Society.

“This is an excellent opportunity to get to know the trails in your own “backyard” and discover new ones that are just a short drive away,” said Nancy Nabak, Communications Coordinator of Woodland Dunes and organizer of a local bi-county event.

Woodland Dunes is encouraging people to find their way to any of the nine participating trails in Manitowoc and Brown Counties to reset their batteries, support their fitness goals, and enjoy a day in the sweet bliss of nature. Scavenger hunts for children will be offered at designated locations, as well. There will also be self-guided trails if hikers just want to get out on their own – at their own pace.

“Hit one, or get turbo and challenge yourself to more. Just get out there and enjoy a walk on the wild side!” said Nabak.

As an added bonus, those who hike the trails at Woodland Dunes will receive a free REI bandana and an insect shield /buff from Duluth Trading Co. Participants who hike any of the nine trails and are over 21 years of age will receive a Buy One/Get One Free coupon for a craft beer from Cool City Brewing Co. in Two Rivers. Nabak recommends to ask your guides if there are incentives at the trail you are on. Different incentives may be offered on the various trails.
