Massachusetts: Firearm & Ammo Tax Hike Hearing on Tuesday, September 12

Sadly, California just sent their 11% firearm and ammunition excise tax hike bill to the Governor for his consideration. Apparently, Massachusetts’ wants to follow in the steps of the west coast state, but not to be out done, wants a 36% excise tax placed on firearms and ammunition to fund the newly established “Public Health & Safety Fund,” included in H.2771.

This type of excise tax, also known as a “sin” tax is levied on specific goods believed to be morally suspect, harmful, or costly to society. It seems that gun control advocates believe lawfully using a firearm and ammunition is engaging in morally and socially harmful behavior. They are also not shy about blaming sportsmen and gun owners for the state’s gun violence issues by setting up funding programs to pay for the criminal activities by others. H.2771 is just another item on their wish list to reduce and eliminate firearm ownership in the Bay State.

On Tuesday, September 12, at 11:00 am in room B-1, the Joint Committee on Revenue is scheduled to hear this egregious bill. Please use our Take Action button to email the members of the committee to urge to focus on criminal, not law-abiding sportsmen and OPPOSE H.2771.

Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen urging them to also email the committee urging them to OPPOSE H.2771. The Bay State needs everyone to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
