A Day Dedicated to Clean Waterways
The cleanup event, held from 9 AM to Noon, saw a remarkable turnout of volunteers
who shared a common goal: to remove litter and debris from Lake Chickamauga and its
surrounding areas. Participants worked tirelessly to collect trash, ensuring the lake
remains a pristine habitat for wildlife and a treasured outdoor playground for all.
Carl Jocumsen, a passionate advocate for environmental conservation through his
organization, Fear My Heart, was at the forefront of this initiative. “The Fear My Heart
Lake Chickamauga Cleanup was a massive success! We had just over 70 people show
up through the rain and the storms to clean up the lake and we made a big difference.
We’re estimating that we pulled ten to fifteen thousand pounds of trash from the lake,”
said Jocumsen. “It was inspiring to see so many passionate people work together. We
can’t thank Hobie Eyewear and all our sponsors enough for supporting the day and
making it as fun as possible. The kids absolutely loved the duck hunt while helping
clean up the bank. It was a massive win for everyone involved!”
