Wisconsin Conservation Congress and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources invite the public to attend open houses at 6 p.m. April 8 to learn about resource management through the annual Fish and Wildlife Spring Hearings process.

In Manitowoc County, the open house will be at 6 p.m. April 8 at Lakeshore Technical College, room 260.

An online opportunity for public input will also be available from noon April 10 through noon April 13.

The WCC will also hold their delegates’ elections at each meeting. Two of the five WCC seats will be up for election in each county.

The public is invited to provide feedback on a variety of fish, wildlife and other natural resources-related topics as part of the spring hearing process. The public is encouraged to provide input online from noon April 10 through noon April 13. For those who prefer to do so in person, a number of paper ballots will be available at each in-person meeting.

Paul Tittl guest speaker at next Fish & Game meeting

State Rep. Paul Tittl

Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 10 at Lincoln Park Cabin No. 1. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Guest speaker will be State Rep. Paul Tittl, who will provide an update on what is going on in Madison and recent legislative work of interest to sporting and conservation enthusiasts. Recent bills will have an impact on hunting and conservation, and Tittl will discuss those as well.

The unit reminds the community that memberships for the 2024 term are available. Membership counts have been in decline in recent years and the organization reminds the public of the importance of supporting all 25 conservation organizations in Manitowoc County. Membership is important to impacting future rules and regulations and to protect rights and resources. Manitowoc Unit dues are still only $5 annually.

It was also announced that Fish & Game is extending the timeline for the Manitowoc County Conservation Study to April 15. Those who have not completed the online survey are asked to go to www.leedewi.com/outdoors to complete it.

That’s it for this week, so have fun in the great outdoors.
