Federal Premium Ammunition Recognizing the Next Generation of Hunter-Conservationists

MISSOULA, Mont. (March 26, 2019) – Federal Premium Ammunition is joining the Boone and Crockett Club in honoring a group of young hunter-conservationists at a banquet as part of the Club’s 30th Big Game Awards, which is scheduled for August 1-3, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri.

A triennial event, the 30th Big Game Awards is being hosted by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s and will take place at the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium in Springfield. Visitors to the museum will be treated to an exhibition of outstanding trophies taken in fair chase over the past three years, including at least one new World’s Record, state records, and Top-Five trophies representing 33 different categories of native North American big game. The exhibit will also feature records book specimens taken by young sportsmen age 16 and under.

Federal will be the presenting sponsor of the Jack Steele Parker Generation Next Youth Awards and Banquet that will be held on August 2, honoring these young hunter-conservationists.

“Hunting is practiced annually by tens of millions of people worldwide, including young sportsmen,” said Boone and Crockett Club President Timothy C. Brady. “This means wildlife and habitat conservation is being practiced by this same segment of our society. Tomorrow’s conservation leaders are in the fields, mountains and forests right now. This is good news for wildlife.”

Young sportsmen who worked hard enough or were lucky enough to have taken a Boone and Crockett qualifying animal between 2016 and 2018 are being invited to share their trophy experiences during a celebration of big game animals and conservation successes.

“As an ammunition company that got its start in the 1920’s when wildlife populations were near all-time lows, conservation has been a commitment for Federal since the very beginning”, said Ryan Bronson, director of Conservation for Federal. “Today’s modern wildlife challenge is recruiting hunters to sustain the wildlife management engine, and the Generation Next Awards and Banquet are part of that effort.”

Brady added, “There was a time when sportsmen were admired within our communities for their skill in providing food and their commitments to ensuring wildlife, especially game species, were treated with respect and remained in healthy abundance. We’re getting back to those days. Our young sportsmen are setting the right example, and with Federal’s help, we’re going to acknowledge that.”

More than 325,000 visitors are expected to view the public exhibit of trophies within the museum from May through August 3. More than 140 outstanding specimens will be on display.

Federal Premium Ammunition joins Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, and the Wild Sheep Foundation as 30th Big Game Awards sponsors.
