AB334 — Domestic Abuse Gun Ban — Gains Steam in Madison
Anti-gun Governor Tony Evers is eager to cement his place in Wisconsin history as a progressive gun banner.
AB334 could be his first victory, as the bill continues to advance. The legislation would disarm gun owners convicted in Wisconsin of a “misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.”
As we previosuly reported, federal law (the infamous Lautenberg amendment) already prohibits gun ownership for people convicted of these crimes of convenience (convenient for the gun banners).
AB334 would be like a “Baby Lautenberg” state-level gun control act and would place the bar for disarmament ridiculously low here in the Badger State.
How low?
Consider just how easy it is for a disgruntled family member (with the help of an anti-gun district attorney) to trump up false charges against you of “raising your voice” and “threatening” someone …
… It could be a family friend, an ex-wife, an ex-girlfriend … anyone making phony accusations …
These bogus charges — even with no evidence to back them up — often bring GUILTY verdicts against gun owners.
I know because we get at least one phone call a month from men all around Wisconsin who have been falsely convicted of these so-called “domestic abuse” misdemeanors and have been barred for life from owning firearms.
Of course, if you study the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report and analyses by reputed criminologists, you already know these gun control schemes do nothing to prevent ACTUAL domestic violence.
So what’s this really about?
Simple: AB334 is nothing but another method to disarm gun owners and attack Wisconsin’s gun culture.
The bill is gaining co-sponsors as we speak and could have a public hearing any day now.
The real question is, will state republicans hold the line against this attack?
Or will they capitulate to appear “reasonable.”
WGO’s positions is clear: we’ve registered our opposition to this bill (we’re the only pro-gun organization opposing the legislation as of this writing).
What I need from you is a fresh push on petitions … I need you to sign our online petition.
State legislators are going to claim this bill is “reasonable” and actually supported by gun owners.
Several state republicans will likely sell us out and support this anti-gun bill.
We need to be able to counter those lies. A stack of signed petitions is one way to do that.
Thanks in advance,
Corey Graff
Executive Director
P.S.- Anti-gun bill AB334 continues to advance in the Wisconsin legislature and could gain “bipartisan support” and get rammed into law, providing more tools for the gun banners to disarm people for life.
