Subject:         HW Meat Raffle a Huge Success

Despite completinig the last hour of the event with no power, the Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game completed a highly successful Hog-Wild Meat Raffle at Tapped on the Lakeshore on Sunday. The weather that moved through late afternoon was strong enough that the Cousin’s Main Lobster Food Truck was forced to batten down the hatches and close temporarily.  The balance of the raffle was done in the dark with no sound system, but all was completed.  The group thanked the crowd for their patience and cooperation.

The major prize of the event was a special raffle drawing for half a hog and processing.  The half hog was donated by Sundown Farms, with processing funded by Leede Research.  Newton Meats will be handling processing. Over $4,000 was raised to support future activities in conservation for the Manitowoc Unit.  Reaction to the event was so strong that the club is already planning the Second Annual Hog-Wild Meat Raffle for 2027.

The Manitowoc Unit is one of the oldest conservation and stewardship groups in the US and works to protect future rights and resources in Manitowoc County.  It is part of the Manitowoc County Fish & Game Protective Association.  In raising more funds, the group hopes to continue projects and youth activities in the area.
