EDUCATION FOR YOUNG SHOOTERS
How to Teach Gun Safety to Young Shooters
Chad and Dana Wall of WallhangerTV have a lot of practical tips on teaching kids about gun safety and helping them develop good habits from an early age. Will you be helping a youngster learn gun safety and how to shoot this summer?
3-POSITION SAFETY
Savage takes safety seriously. Our Model 110s have a 3-position safety. In the first mode, neither the trigger nor the bolt will function. This ‘Safe’ position should be familiar to all shooters. Another familiar position is the ‘Fire’ position. This is all the way forward and will allow the trigger to be pulled, and the bolt to be cycled. Savage created a third position, the ‘Middle’ position, that adds and extra measure of protection. Here, the trigger is locked, but the shooter will be able to rack the bolt.
START SMALL
We pass on hunting traditions, and it is up to us to teach those skills safely. There’s no better way to start than with a Rascal Target XP. The industry’s safest micro rimfire has come of age—and it’s ready to shoot, right out of the box. The design builds superior shooting skills thanks to full-size rifle features, including Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger™ system.
