Recieved this note from Ted Rulseh telling me about the book he wrote.
I grew up in Manitowoc County and lived there as recently as 2013. You’re receiving this note because in the past the Manitowoc County Lakes Association has shown interest in my work – specifically hosting me at a board meeting for a presentation about basic lake science after release of my book, A Lakeside Companion (UW Press).
Your members may be interested in my newest book, You Shoulda Been Here Last Week, a collection of stories related to fishing, several set among the waters of Manitowoc County, Topics include smallmouth fishing in the rivers, angling as a young boy for plump river carp, sucker fishing from bridges in spring, dip netting for smelt on the Two Rivers pier, and angling on Lake Michigan and its tributaries for trout and salmon. The stories share experience with which I imagine many local lake residents would identify.
I’ve attached information about the book that you are welcome to share with your membership; it would be my privilege to send you a review copy on request. I will be on The Breakfast Club on WCUB on April 18, and on April 26 I will be at Ladeda Books in Manitowoc for a reading and signing.
I will be glad to answer any question or provide more information.
All best wishes,
Ted J. Rulseh

Learn about the threats to our inland lakes – invasive species, nutrient pollution, over- development, climate change – and how you can help safeguard the lakes for today and generations to come. Ripple Effects looks in depth at the challenges facing lakes in the glaciated Upper Midwest. Based on the author’s experience, extensive research, and more than 70 interviews with lake scientists, lake association leaders, and others, it sounds an alarm about the future of the lakes and the lake country. The driving question is summed up by one interviewee: “We love this lake. What can we do to keep it healthy?”
