Thanks for taking a moment to catch up on all things WWA. For those of you that don’t “do Facebook”, here’s a shot of the Chevy Heaven, Great Hunting Truck raffle winner Chris Battle picking up his Silverado, early last week. Thanks to everyone who helped make this raffle happen, we’ve certainly learned a lot, and ended up “in the black” on the endeavor.

A big thanks to the West Allis team for their hard work, culminating in their event last week, with the regular waterfowl hunting seasons starting at the end of next week, we take a bit of a break now on fundraising events until the Lakeshore team comes together again, on Thursday, November 29th. Despite this break, time will fly, with Tom & his band of merry men heading to North Dakota (9/28-10/7), and preparations for 2019, our 35th anniversary year, going hard during the next few months. In that regard, I would very much appreciate recommendations for outfitters we could reach out to, for the 2019 State Hunt. We have a potential partner for 2020, but are looking for a partner for next year. It could be a waterfowl hunt, or a big game destination – we’ve not done that in a while. The key is having first-hand familiarity with the operation, so we can have 100% confidence in our plans. Please let Tom or me know, if you’ve got a potential lead for us to follow up on!

Looking ahead, I’ve got a meeting of the USFWS “Joint Venture” update team this Thursday in Baraboo, Tom is looking to have wrap up meetings with several chapters/events to clean up reporting from spring/summer, we’ve got a conference call with the executive committee of the board of directors on Monday the 24th, and then board director Patrice Eyers and I will return to Perrot State Park to assist with another edition of the WDNR Warden Recruit “Duck School”, on Friday the 29th. Then, the Green Bay Chapter will host its 9th annual “Learn to Hunt Waterfowl”, on October 12/13.

Finally, mark your calendars for Thursday, December 6th, for the WWA Christmas Bash – where we’ll have another “night of winning”! The Waukesha Chapter team has taken over the reins on this 3rd annual event, and they’re running a great “class A” for it, as well. Details will be up online here,  soon!

I wish you safe hunts, clean shots, and I thank you for all you do for WWA.

See you on the water,  Don
