In the Valders Journal on Thursday Dec. 3, 2020 a story written by Todd S. Bergmann wrote about the Valders Fishing Club launching raffle plans. The Valders High School Fishing Club will be getting new equipment after the raffle is complete. Valders High School Board on Nov. 23rd approved a fundraising raffle for the club, after Mason Meyer addressed the school board via Zoom.
The club has about 20 members so far and it’s growing all the time. Some of the members do have fishing equipment, but they lack ice fishing items. The advisor of the club is Jesse Schneider and the club is student driven so students learn how to run a club and raise funds.
As a group they all learn how hard it is to raise money for their club. The raffle has $9,800 in prizes, including fishing equipment, a fish cleaning machine and two charter fishing packages according to Meyer.
The club purchased prizes mostly at discounts. Also, for the club, the board accepted a $1,000 donation from the Clarks Mills Sportsman’s Club for general supplies. Viking Bow & Gun has also donated earlier when the club was just starting up.
As I write this, I can’t help to think that these individuals will someday be the leaders of the local sportsman clubs in the state. Please help and support this raffle and maybe if your school would like to get a club setup, talk to the school board in your district. Good Luck Valders Fishing Club and may you all have a super safe fishing season, both on hard water and regular water.
