USCCA Reaches 75,000+ Signatures In Support of National Concealed Carry Reciprocity

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association Reaches Over 75,000 Signatures In Support for National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill

West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) today announced its online petition in support of H.R. 38, The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2021, has received more than 75,000 signatures and is climbing every day. This bipartisan bill was recently introduced by U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) to allow law-abiding Americans to protect themselves and their families at all times by ensuring that a concealed carry permit in one state is recognized in other states that allow residents to carry.

In addition to this petition, the USCCA has also launched a website to educate the public and help grow support for addressing this increasingly important issue. The legislation was passed by the U.S. House in 2017 when it was under Republican control but did not pass the Senate, necessitating its re-introduction last month.

In 2020, more than 5 million new gun owners joined the 100 million-plus gun owners already in the United States. As sales skyrocketed, so did the demand for firearm safety and training courses. The USCCA now has over 550,000 paying members and has experienced exponential growth in education and training over the last year. The USCCA also has over 7,000 instructors across the country, including the addition of more than 2,000 in the last year alone.

“Over the last year, we witnessed millions of Americans become awakened to their right to self-defense. Today, these law-abiding citizens are making their voices heard that the Constitutional and natural born right to protect does not disappear when they cross state lines. They want to be able to protect themselves and their families at all times, whether it’s visiting relatives across state lines or going on a family vacation,” said Tim Schmidt, President and Founder of the USCCA. “It is no surprise widespread support has quickly grown from coast to coast for this sensible legislation. By eliminating the patchwork of state laws that criminalize our basic right to self-defense, more Americans will be better protected. Now it is time for our leaders in Congress to act.”

The USCCA has long advocated for passage of a national concealed carry reciprocity bill, even being featured on CBS’ 60 Minutes in a story about Congressman Hudson’s legislation back in February 2018.
