USCCA Applauds Senate “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act”

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association Applauds Senate Introduction of the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

With National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Legislation Now Introduced in Both the House and Senate, We Must Build on Momentum to Secure These Protections for All Americans

West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) released the following statement today after U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act to allow responsible individuals with concealed carry privileges in their home state to exercise those rights in any other state with concealed carry laws:

“We applaud Senator Cornyn and his colleagues for their leadership to help protect families and ensure more responsibly-armed Americans can exercise their natural-born right to self-defense. This important legislation would reform the complex patchwork of state and local concealed carry laws that often force law-abiding gun owners to choose between protecting themselves and their families or going to jail,” said Tim Schmidt, President and Founder of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.

“Efforts by Senator Cornyn and others to pass concealed carry reciprocity stand in stark contrast to the ineffective, anti-gun measures pushed by others in Congress that do virtually nothing to actually save lives and reduce crime. Today, national reciprocity is more important than ever as millions of Americans have stepped forward to obtain a concealed carry permit and become their family’s ultimate protector in the last year. It is long past time for Congress to meet its basic obligation to support the most responsible members of our communities by protecting, rather than criminalizing them,” Schmidt said.

Earlier this year Schmidt sent a letter and released a video message on behalf of more than 600,000 USCCA members to President Biden expressing the importance of national concealed carry reciprocity and protecting gun rights for all Americans, in contrast to the ineffective, anti-gun measures he has endorsed instead. Schmidt also penned op-eds in The Hill newspaper as well as Townhall.com and the The Washington Examiner in which he outlined the importance of Congress finally addressing concealed carry reciprocity to better protect families.

This all comes as record numbers of Americans have been purchasing firearms to keep themselves and their loved ones safe, and the number of gun owners seeking self-defense education and training is at an all-time high. The USCCA has also experienced simultaneous demand for firearms education and training courses. In fact, over 2,000 new USCCA instructors have joined the ranks of 7,000 instructors across the country in the last year alone.

About the USCCA. The US Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) is an association of responsible armed Americans whose members get exceptional self-defense education, lifesaving training, and self-defense liability insurance, preparing them for them for the before, during and after of a lawful act of self-defense. Headquartered in West Bend, WI, the USCCA is the largest, fastest-growing self-defense association dedicated to responsible gun owners.”
