You got up at the crack of dawn to reach your treestand before first light. Your sit was cold, quiet, and s-l-o-w, and as you climb down from the stand you’re a little frustrated. Then you remember—by the time you get back to camp, there’ll be a warm venison sausage breakfast sandwich, topped with an egg and melted cheese, with your name on it.

This is our favorite recipe for a venison breakfast sandwich —savory (thanks to some bacon fat) and sweet (thanks to some maple syrup).
