The Metal Ware Corporation Acquires Magic Products Inc.
TWO RIVERS, WI — The Metal Ware Corporation, a manufacturing company based in Two Rivers, announces the acquisition of the assets of Magic Products Inc., a bait and tackle supplier based in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin. Magic Products is a leading manufacturer of worm bedding, bait containers and fish attractants as well as an extensive line of fishing bait and accessories. Magic Products joins Metal Ware’s expansive fish and game processing equipment, most notably under the CHARD® Products and Open Country® brands.
The company’s acquisition process culminated in Q2. Metal Ware Corporation plans to continue preserved bait production in Amherst Junction with distribution transitioning to the company’s central distribution center located in Two Rivers.
“We are very pleased to add the Magic brand of products to our extensive line of outdoor gear,” said CEO Rick Carey. “We will continue to stay focused on providing high quality products that allow our customers to enjoy their time in the outdoors.”
Magic Products was founded in the late 1960s as Magic Worm Bedding Inc. by George Sroda. Sroda made a splash in the 1960s and ‘70s talk show circuit with his appearances with Herman the Worm, a 16-inch earthworm trained to shoot basketballs, who was featured in Sroda’s book series “Herman the Worm.” Sroda sold the business in 1975 to Donn Schwarze and the product line was expanded and its name changed to Magic Products Inc. Previous president Michelle Branham led the business since 2003, assuming the role previously occupied by her father, Schwarze. Magic Products now carries an extensive line of fishing and bait accessories.
The Metal Ware Corporation specializes in deep draw and metal stamping, rotational molding and injection molding, and is best known for being home of the NESCO and CHARD lines of kitchen and game-processing electrics with a strong domestic manufacturing presence.
