The FORWARD Endowment, the Manitowoc County trust established to fund projects focused on hunting, fishing, conservation, and related education, has announced a major estate gift to the fund.  The estate of the late Mark Pupeter has provided a substantial gift to the endowment that has been finalized in recent weeks.  Mark had a deep involvement in conservation in Manitowoc County and was part of several sporting organizations.  Leadership of the Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game, who founded the trust noted that this gift will keep on giving to the conservation community in Manitowoc County for years to come and is greatly appreciated.

The FORWARD (Friends Of Resources, Wildlife And Recreational Development) endowment is a 501-C3 and interest only trust, meaning that the base or corpus of the trust is always maintained.  Each year an amount equal to the rate of inflation is returned to the base to keep the fund whole.  Only investment revenue is given in grants each year.  The overall goal is to provide a long-term resource to support the strong natural resources and conservation practices of Manitowoc County.

A total of just over $9,500 was awarded in the 2020 grant season.  The FORWARD Endowment has now provided over $130,000 in grants awarded to projects and groups in Manitowoc County since being founded in 1993.  The trust was founded on a $53,000 estate gift and has grown significantly with support from Manitowoc County Fish & Game Protective Association, who made significant donations and also provides a portion of their annual banquet to the fund.  Businesses and individuals have also supported the trust that is specifically for Manitowoc County projects.

All donations, big and small are welcomed, with checks to The FORWARD Endowment c/o Associated Bank.  Adam Grantham is the contact person at the bank.  Memorial or estate planning gifts are welcomed and can be address through estate planners or the bank.
