With the fall archery season coming up next month, it’s time to find your hunting spot and check it out. That also includes the City of Manitowoc locations. Recently the hunting of deer have been brought to attention by the careless acts of a hunter last year who shot a dog. This was not the act of a sportsman. Real sportsmen (hunters) will follow the letter of the law when afield. It’s sad to see such a senseless act towards an animal you can’t eat. Like when gun hunting, know your target and what lays beyond before shooting any weapon. Today we have bows that can shoot well over 100 yards. So, Please, check for sure what you are shooting at before releasing that arrow. I attended the City of Manitowoc Police Dept. informational meeting on hunting within the city limits at 6 pm Tuesday night (8-13-19) and only four of us hunters were there. I was told they had close to 30 during the noon hour meeting. If you want to hunt within the city limits of Manitowoc, I’m enclosing a copy of their rules for you to read. You must stop at the police dept. to pick up several forms that must be filled out and turned back into the police dept. before you can hunt in the city. If you do not follow these simple rules, you will be banned forever from hunting in the city. So please, follow the rules and enjoy the hunt.
