Our friends at the Ozaukee-Washington Counties Pheasants Forever Chapter has asked us to help with a workday they have planned at the Schwengel Waterfowl Production Area near Belgium. They have recently finished some contracted forestry mowing work for fire break creation, and now need to go in and remove larger trees and brush that the Fecon mower didn’t get. This work is part of a larger habitat management plan for the WPA and needs to get done ahead of the USFWS prescribed fire season coming up in a couple of weeks.
This will be a day of mostly cutting the larger trees and leftover brush and hauling them to piles. If you have an hour to give or the whole morning, we need all the help when can get to get this work done and to show support for our Conservation Partners.
The forecast looks like it will be a great day to be outside and nothing makes you feel better than hard work worth doing!
This Saturday, March 7th,
at 9:30 AM
At the parking lot on the corner of Six Mile and Jay Rd.
Anyone interested in learning more about the project and the Schwengel Waterfowl Production Area, Jeff Stolen or Tom Ellis from Pheasants Forever will be there to help.
If you can’t make the 9:30am start, don’t hesitate to come out when you can! Just look for vehicles and the sound of chainsaws. We also plan on having another workday in late March or early April for those who cannot attend this Saturday.
We will send out emails when we have those dates scheduled.
