NWTF to engage youth for Thanksgiving edition of its popular Facebook Live series

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The National Wild Turkey Federation is requesting questions from children ages 12 and under for a special Thanksgiving edition of its Facebook Live series featuring Dr. Bret Collier and Dr. Mike Chamberlain, which, for this episode, will be dubbed “Juice Boxes and Conservation.”

To engage a younger audience and to demonstrate the importance of conservation and wild turkey habitat, the NWTF is asking its members, volunteers and supporters from across the industry to submit video questions from children about anything and everything wild turkey.

“Around Thanksgiving is when turkeys are on everyone’s mind, especially kids who are working on Thanksgiving craft projects at school and learning about the first Thanksgiving,” said Pete Muller, NWTF public relations manager. “This is a great opportunity to engage children about the NWTF’s mission and teach about conservation.”

“Juice Boxes and Conservation” will be a play on the NWTF’s Facebook Live series “Cocktails and Conservation,” where NWTF host Jason Lupardus is joined by Dr. Bret Collier and Dr. Mike Chamberlain, both Ph.D. turkey ecology professors, to discuss timely topics ranging from turkey movement patterns to the importance of prescribed fire.

“Our ‘Cocktails and Conservation’ series has been such a success because you have two of the sharpest minds in the field of wild turkey ecology discussing and answering your questions, all from the comfort of your couch.” Muller said. “We want to provide the same comfortable learning environment for kids, except we will be drinking juice boxes.”

“Juice Boxes and Conservation” will be live streamed on the NWTF’s Facebook page on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. EDT.

Submit video of a child asking his or her questions with the child’s first name and state in which they reside to pr@NWTF.net or private messaged to NWTF’s national Facebook account. Multiple questions may be submitted, and videos recorded with cellphones will be accepted.

Participants will be eligible to win various prizes for questions submitted.
