NSSF ENCOURAGES BUSINESSES TO ADD AUGUST EVENTS & PROMOTIONS TO NATIONAL SHOOTING SPORTS MONTH CALENDAR
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that retailers, ranges and organizations can now submit their August events and promotions at ShootingSportsMonth.org.
“National Shooting Sports Month presents our industry with an unparalleled opportunity to attract new shooters and customers while inspiring existing gun owners to be legacies by introducing someone new. The time is now for us to host our communities at ranges or stores nationwide and showcase the shooting sports as safe, fun recreational activities with limited barriers to entry,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Retail & Range Business Development. “Ranges, retailers and organizations can join the celebration simply by adding their August events & promotions to the national calendar at ShootingSportsMonth.org.”
The calendar of events at ShootingSportsMonth.org is networked with NSSF’s LetsGoShooting.org website. There, people exploring various target-shooting sports, ranges near them and retailers that can outfit them with the products needed for an enjoyable day at the range will be able to view the events in their area and make plans to participate.
There is no limit to the number of events and promotions ranges or retailers can add to the ShootingSportsMonth.org calendar, nor are there restrictions on the type of events or promotions that can be hosted, explained Snow.
“Family days at the range, a summer tent sale, dealer demo days, date nights, balloon shooting matches, an NSSF First Shots® event, ‘firearms safety awareness days’ open to the public, training classes and even retail discount and sales announcements. Anything and everything that’s educational, safe and high on the entertainment factor will be big draws, and you’re limited only by your imagination,” said Snow.
He also emphasized that NSSF provides a variety of marketing resources industry can use to help spread the word about the August celebration.
The promotional toolkit includes:
- Downloadable logos to tie to eblasts or other promotional communications
- Poster templates to raise awareness of your August events and promotions
- Sample press releases highlighting your August plans to send to area media outlets including your local television stations, radio broadcasters, newspapers, community online bulletin boards, chambers of commerce and departments of tourism
Ranges, retailers and organizations that submit August events and promotions will receive promotional packages while supplies last. The packages include branded banners, T-shirts, hats, Frogg Toggs cooling towels and other products to use as giveaways and tie to contests and raffles.
National Shooting Sports Month was created in 2017 to encourage increased participation in target shooting. Since its inception, ranges and retailers have seen a positive rise in customer traffic during what is often one of the slower months of the year. The positive perception by their communities has resulted in thousands of people taking their first steps to learn about safe firearms handling, reenergizing lapsed participants and inspiring active target shooters to introduce new people to the shooting sports.
