Jim Kettler will be the guest speaker at the Dec. 20th meeting of the NEWGLSF to talk about the ongoing project at the Little Manitowoc. The Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership, Inc. is working to improve the habitat for migratory shorebirds, northern pike ad other fish and wildlife species along the river. Project activities include sediment excavation, installation of in-stream structures, invasive species control, and planting and seeding of native species. This first stage of the project is part of a larger initiative to connect three parks covering over 230 acres and improve 2.5 miles of stream. Expected outcomes include providing critical habitat such as spawning grounds for shoreline birds, waterfowl ad invertebrates. This should be a very interesting presentation since years ago the Little Manitowoc was the main return point for our salmon each fall.
Rumor has it that Santa may be making a visit at this meeting to meet children and grandchildren of NEWGLSF members. Please call Carol Resch at 682-0508 with the number of children coming so we can tell Santa how many gifts to bring along that night. We will also hold our monthly raffle and lunch will be served for meeting attendees.
AS A LEGAL NOTE: NEWGLSF will have their election of Officers and Directors at our General Membership meeting on January 17th, 2019.
