Michael G. Baumgartner DNR Fisheries Supervisor at the Besadny Fish Facility in Kewaunee County will be the guest speaker. Mike will discuss the salmon egg collection efforts in our area and answer questions on salmon egg collection in Kewaunee and Door County.
Our fall kick off meeting will also include a swap meet for those interested in selling or purchasing sports equipment. The meeting will include the normal monthly raffle and lunch.
We will also show photos from the 2018 Salmon Derby, Hooked on a Hobby Kid’s Fish Derby, the NEWGLSF July 7th Kid’s Fish Derby, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Kid’s Fish Derby.
The 2018 Salmon Derby wrapped up on July 8th at the Manitowoc Marina. 425 people signed up to participate in the derby this year resulting in 729 Trout & Salmon being registered over the 3-day event.
SMOKE FISH CONTEST ON OCTOBER 18TH: The club will again be hosting the annual Smoke Fish and Smoke Fish Spread Contest on Thursday Oct. 18th. So get your time line set to smoke your fish and make your spreads. All entrants must smoke their own fish and be one of the five species of Lake Michigan trout or salmon, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Coho Salmon and Chinook Salmon. 3 CASH PRIZES will be awarded in both catagories:
Smoke Fish and Smoke Fish Spread: 1st is $35.00, 2nd is $25.00, 3rd is $15.00
SPECIAL NOTE: Club Winners for August, please pick up your Prize Packages at the meeting on Sept. 20th.
