Meet Mary, LNRP’s new Public Health Intern!

Mary Nelmark is a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse studying Public Health and Community Health, graduating in August of 2024. She chose to intern with LNRP to fulfill her fieldwork requirement — and we’re lucky to have her!

She has a passion for environmental health and is eager to help bridge the gap between conservation efforts and public health with the help of LNRP. Her interests include air and water quality impacts on public health, connections between healthy ecosystems and the prevention of disease, and how natural green spaces positively impact human health. She believes that a healthy planet fosters healthy communities.

Mary is originally from Detroit Lakes Minnesota. Outside of school and work, Mary loves any activities involving the outdoors. She enjoys downhill skiing, hiking, paddleboarding, tennis, and being on the water. When she is back at home in Minnesota, she likes to hang out with her family and two dogs.

Welcome to the team, Mary!
