MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who intentionally “drifted” his vehicle in a church parking lot — killing a goose — was convicted Thursday of mistreatment of an animal. Keeghan Yindra was sentenced to 18 months on probation.
Yindra, 19, pleaded guilty to that misdemeanor count, as well as count of disorderly conduct. A bail jumping charge was dropped.
A 30-day jail sentence imposed and stayed by Judge Mark Rohrer. The time would only be served if Yindra violates terms of the probation.
Yindra did not address the court before the sentence was issued.
Manitowoc police say it happened in the Faith Evangelical Church Parking lot on August 7.
The probable cause statement reads, “The driver was intentionally driving where the most geese were present, […] suggesting the sole purpose of entering the parking lot was to target the geese.”
Yindra added, “He was intentionally trying to scare them off and did not intend to kill any the geese.”
