The FORWARD Endowment, the Manitowoc County trust established to fund projects focused on hunting, fishing, conservation, and related education, has announced the successful completion of the new pier project at Pigeon Lake in Manitowoc County. In partnership with Manitowoc County Fish & Game, the Pigeon Lake Association, and several other groups and government entities, the project brings a high quality, handicap accessible pier to one of the most popular lakes in Manitowoc County. The new pier is longer and offers direct fishing opportunities on the lake. It will allow for safer boat launch with deeper lake access.
In a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 20th, County Executive, Bob Zigelbauer noted that the project was a great example of organizations and government working together to improve conditions and access to the lake. It is part of an ongoing access improvement process that has been going on in Manitowoc County for many years. The 115 year old Manitowoc County Fish & Game Protective Association represents over 2,000 sporting men and women in the area and has a Pier Committee, charged with helping improve access to the great natural resources we have at lakes in the county. FORWARD has partnered in several of these projects, providing funding to help support the projects.
The FORWARD Endowment has provided over $130,000 in grants awarded to projects and groups in Manitowoc County. These represent completed projects in the community. FORWARD is a 501C3 and donations can make checks payable to The FORWARD Endowment c/o Associated Bank. Only interest incomes from the fund are spent so that the fund will continue to grow and be there for future generations. Memorial or estate planning gifts are possible with the fund. Those making end of the year charitable donations are invited to consider the fund.
