Have any of you sportsmen looked closely at the makeup of the Wisconsin DNR Board. First, let me explain my opinion to all of this. The BIGGEST mistake Wisconsin ever did to the DNR was to allow a Governor to appoint the DNR Secretary to that position. That means, Republican or Democrat Governor, all his buddies are appointed, same as for the DNR board. The DNR Secretary should have the knowledge of the outdoors, meaning he or she should come from the DNR board, not a back room like today. Under our now Governor, he is selecting people who have some knowledge of the outdoors, mainly working with groups like Humane Society of U.S., Animal Defense Fund, Serra Club, etc… Now over the past few years the Wisconsin DNR Board has had it’s problems and we will see more coming in the future with the people the Governor selected to be on the board. Many are liberals from the write up of their history in the outdoors. I do understand everyone is not prefect, but anyone selected for any position on the DNR board or any position in the DNR should be from a conservative background. They need to have been invloved in the outdoors all of their lives, not when they were a child like today’s selections.
So what can you do to help? How about joining a sportsman club, get involved with the youth of tomorrow. Take a kid fishing more then one time. Help start a program for women so they can have some time to themselves in the outdoors. How about a Mother-daughter day in the outdoors. We already have father – son days all the time. I would really like to see a Cook Off day of wild game by the ladies. No one ever does something for the ladies today, so lets plan some events just for the ladies. Comments can be made on the VLOUTDOORS Facebook site if you want. Have a safe summer and good luck in whatever sport you choose to enjoy.
