Lake Michigan Day highlights the significant opportunities for continued restoration and protection of Lake Michigan and the broader Great Lakes Basin while also addressing the ongoing challenges. Here’s a look at the speaker lineup:
Keynote Speaker: Sara Smith (Midwest Tribal Resilience Liaison with the College of Menominee Nation Sustainable Development Institute)
Topic: The Tribal Climate Adaptation Menu and how it can be used to better integrate indigenous knowledge into climate planning and action
Climate Change Action Panelists: Sara Smith, Jeff Lutsey (Executive Director of the Climate Change Coalition of Door County), and Marco Marquez (WI State Director of Organizing at Action for the Climate Emergency)
Topic: Diverse perspectives and experiences of climate action ranging from Tribal resilience to rural organizing to youth climate advocacy
