Give Back While Gearing Up For Waterfowl Season

Help protect the wetlands, lakes and rivers you hunt this fall by donating to the Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund.

Gearing up for a successful waterfowl season is a lot of work – prepping decoys, setting up your blind, getting in reps with your dog and purchasing your license and stamps.

You know what’s easy? Protecting Wisconsin’s state-managed lands and waters through the Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund.

This year, consider donating to the Cherish Fund when you purchase your license through Go Wild and help improve habitat at the state-owned wetlands, streams and lakes across Wisconsin.

The Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund is a public-private partnership between the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The fund provides permanent support for the care and management of lands and waters loved by anglers, hunters, hikers, birders and other nature enthusiasts.

The Cherish Fund is built through voluntary contributions from citizens when they purchase their fishing and hunting licenses or donate directly. The fund was created to last lifetimes because Wisconsin’s precious natural resources must last lifetimes.

Your donation to the Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund helps support Wisconsin’s natural resources for generations to come.

Which Projects Does It Fund?

The Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund supports habitat management and ecological restoration on Wisconsin’s state-managed public lands, including natural areas, parks, trails, wildlife and fishery areas, recreation areas and forests. A few examples of past projects include:

  • Improving water quality, fish and waterfowl habitat and recreational access to the degraded backwaters of upper Lake Pepin Pierce County Islands Wildlife Area
  • Improving more than 200 acres of habitat at the Lower Chippewa River State Natural Area, including restoring agricultural fields to historic prairie habitat and protecting the largest contiguous floodplain forest in the Midwest
