Gill Pro Angler Profile: Fred Roumbanis |
MLF Angler Chooses Gill for Versatility and Excellence in Tournament Wear |
Buford, GA (May 23, 2019) – Among Gill’s diverse roster of pro bass anglers representing the B.A.S.S. Elite Series, FLW, and Major League Fishing (MLF), is Fred “Boom Boom” Roumbanis. Now fishing the MLF, Roumbanis has four wins, 23 top 10s, and 40 Top 20s – with $1.5 million in career winnings—to his credit. “Not only is Fred one of the best pro bass anglers on the water,” says Tim Golden, U.S. National Sales Manager, Gill Fishing. “He’s an excellent promoter and has a very keen sense for contributing product design ideas that can help us continue to excel at making the best fishing wear on the water.” Golden continues: “The fact that we have Fred on our team is a testament to the quality and confidence these anglers have in Gill. I have worked closely with Roumbanis, and I can tell you he only expects top quality products. We are honored he chose Gill.” |

Although this is Roumbanis’ first year with Gill, he’s already been through many winter and spring events in the apparel, ultimately putting it through the challenging real-world tests that pro bass anglers face each and every day. “Gill wear is simply the best apparel in our sport,” says Roumbanis. “From the Tournament Jacket and Bib Trousers I’ve been wearing to the layering technologies that kept me warm this winter—to the Expedition shorts and various gloves options—there’s simply nothing like Gill apparel available for anglers elsewhere.” In particular, Roumbanis points out he was very pleased with the Vortex hood in the Tournament Jacket. “Any other jacket hood is going to pull at your neck when you’re running around. The wind blows through the Vortex hood and you can leave it on loosely, hat on, everything… I was cruising at 65 or 70 mph with absolutely no problems in the rain and staying absolutely dry. Plus, the sleeves are a little longer so they aren’t restricting when you’re casting; instead, you just stay really comfortable. Same thing with the Tournament Bib Trousers—they were super comfortable and kept me dry.” |
Roumbanis is also a fan of the men’s Hybrid Down Jacket, which he says gave him the right level of layering and warmth under the Tournament Jacket during his winter tournament schedule. “While it’s a great jacket to keep you warm, it’s also sporty and makes the perfect looking jacket to wear when going out to dinner. That’s pretty cool.” “The gloves are awesome, too—and they have so many different types to choose from. There are options to wear when I’m running in the boat, options to wear fishing, to models that provide excellent sun protection.” While Roumbanis has been extremely pleased with all the Gill apparel he’s been wearing, he’s super excited for next generation products which he will start wearing soon, too. “Everything I’ve seen in the new Fusion suit looks absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to wear it on tour. It’s really hard for me to believe that Gill has made something even better than the Tournament family wear but apparently that’s the case.” To learn more about Gill’s fishing rainwear and additional apparel, visit www.gillfishing.com. |
