. Friends of the Branch River Watershed Newsletter

September 29th was our Fall Family event at Dodge Preserve. We set up a short kids run around a pond, through a trek of woods and down the runway to finish. We served up a simple lunch afterwards and then had Wildlife of Wisconsin bring in some of their resident raptors. All the kids loved the program and the beautiful birds. Jerry and Susan Theys do an amazing job. We sent them a check for $200 to help offset their rehab/miscellaneous expenses. Our invasive rusty crayfish removal efforts get delivered to them for hungry animals being rehabbed too! These events are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Find and follow us on Facebook to learn more! A family membership STARTS AT $20! Different levels of membership/sponsorship options are available and are tax deductible!

We want to remind all of you with grandkids, nieces, nephews, children of your own…. Friends of the Branch River Watershed wants KIDS OUTDOORS! We sponsor Woodland Dunes summer camps for your kid(s) and will reimburse you for the costs or let us know ASAP and we will get them signed up. Other opportunities for older kids: Maritime Museum Watershed Ambassadors week-long day camp with a sleep-over.. need to be 12 and up; we are looking into other options a well and will keep you posted… possibly one in Crivitz area next summer. We will also plan on doing the Branch River bridge crossings clean-up and hope for decent weather next year. We will schedule at least 2 crayfish removal dates too next summer….all dependent on weather and river levels too of course! If you have any ideas, suggestions as to something fun for kids, families, etc in the outdoors, please let Emily or Al know. We are always looking for new ideas.
