Free Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin June 7-8

Free Fishing Weekend is happening June 7-8, 2025! During Free Fishing Weekend, you can cast a line without having a fishing license, trout stamp or salmon stamp. This is a great opportunity for family and friends to give fishing a try.
Fishing clubs, lake associations, civic organizations, park friends’ groups and others have planned fishing clinics, and many are geared toward families. To find a fishing clinic or event near you, check the DNR Events calendar.
Fishing programs continue throughout the summer. Here are a few other opportunities to learn to fish.
- June 13: Summer Fun at the Mead – Let’s Go Fishing!, Mead Wildlife Area (Milladore)
- June 19: Learn To Fish, Devil’s Lake State Park (Baraboo)
- June 28: Kids’ Fishing Clinic, Daniel Boone Conservation League (Hubertus)
- July 5: Kids Fishing Tips – Basic Fishing & Safety, Vilas County Fairgrounds (Eagle River)
- July 18 and 19: Learn to Fish, Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit (Campbellsport)
- July 24: Learn To Fish, Devil’s Lake State Park (Baraboo)
- Aug. 2: Kids Fishing Tips – Basic Fishing & Safety, Vilas County Fairgrounds (Eagle River)
- Aug.14: Learn To Fish, Devil’s Lake State Park (Baraboo)
- Aug. 15: Learn to Fly Fish, Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit (Campbellsport)
- Aug. 16: Learn to Fly Fish, Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit (Campbellsport)
