Good perch fishing was seen at Oconto Park II and the Oconto City docks. Better catches were coming from Oconto Park II as the Oconto River was yielding smaller size perch primarily. Minnows were the best bait with anglers fishing them on the bottom having better luck than using slip bobbers. On average 10 to 12 keeper perch over 2 hours of fishing was seen with fish of 7 to 10 inches being common. Some of the back waters and shallow ditches were seeing ice this week as temps have dropped. Water temps were in the mid 30’s by the end of the week.

Some of the area launches had their docks removed this week as cold weather has started. The launches on the Peshtigo River were still being used by duck hunters but no fishing pressure was observed. Most fishing pressure was ssen on the Menominee River from the Highway 41 bridge upstream to the dam. Shore fishing and fishing off Hattie St. Bridge were popular as anglers were searching for whitefish, walleye, and brown trout. Overall the whitefish bite was good this week with catches of 2 to 5 fish reported over a 2 hour period. Many other whitefish were being fouled hook while targeting all 3 species. Anglers were using jigs with crawlers or minnows off the Hattie St. Bridge with success for whitefish with the occasional walleye caught. A few anglers were targeting brown trout this week with a couple fish caught casting rapalas and spoons below the dam. Water temps were in the mid 30’s by the end of the week.
