Fish & Game’s annual meeting, Candlelight Night: Your latest Manitowoc outdoors report

Manitowoc County Fish & Game Protective Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 at City Limits Bar & Hall, 3627 County CR, 2 miles south of Manitowoc.

Speakers, updates, a meeting and lunch are all planned.

Specifically at the annual meeting will be important information and updates about the first deer in Manitowoc County found to have chronic wasting disease. Learn about what you should do as hunters and the impact it may have on hunting in Manitowoc County this coming season.

This meeting is open to the public and all outdoorsmen are encouraged to attend.

Larrabee ice fishing derby is Feb. 1-2

Larrabee Sportsmans Club will hold its 42nd annual ice fishing derby on Harpt Lake Feb. 1 and 2.

The derby starts at 6 a.m. Feb. 1 and concludes at 2 p.m. Feb. 2. Drawings will start right after the 2 p.m. deadline to register fish.

Fish categories include walleye, perch, northern, bass, bluegill and crappie. Registration is $10 per person with a 100% payout.

Register to fish at Fat Boyz-Tisch Mills, Bradley Gun Sales-Denmark, Klein’s Hardware Hank-Two Rivers or through club members. Rules are available with entry.

Hot food and refreshments will be available all weekend, including the Friday night fish fry, while supplies last. Saturday evening will feature Kickin’ It Karaoke and DJ from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Larrabee Sportsmans Club, on Harpt Lake, is 2 miles north of State 147 at 16306 Harpt Lake Road, Mishicot.

Gun Show is Feb. 2 at City Limits

Manitowoc Gun Club will hold its 49th annual Gun Show from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at City Limits, 3627 County CR, 2 miles south of Manitowoc.

Buy, sell or trade sporting collectibles, guns and related items.

General admission is $5 per person and children younger than 12 are admitted free with a parent. Appraisals will be offered for free.

NEWGLSF elects officers

Northeast Wisconsin Great Lakes Sport Fishermen held its election of officers during its January meeting at City Limits.

President will be Mike Heinzen, internal vice president will be Jerry Kirk, external vice president will be Tom Nowak, secretary will be Atiq Khan and treasurer will be Fred Schnell.

Directors with one year left to serve include Atiq Khan, Scott Habermann, Tom Nowak, Steve Newberg, John Gadzinski, Keith Schaefer, Mike Heinzen, Wayne Monka, Eugene Runnoe, Dean Schaefer, Roger Brunner and Martin Gregory.

Directors with two years to serve include Jerry Kirk, Rich Jones, Roland Hippert, Fred Schnell, Andy Lindsay and John Woelfel.

Woodland Dunes’ Candlelight Night is Feb. 1

Stimulate your evening senses and experience winter in a beautiful golden glow at Woodland Dunes from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 1.

Guests will enjoy an evening stroll (or snowshoeing, if there’s enough snow) along a candlelit trail, hot beverages and live music indoors.

Weather permitting, astronomy experts will also be on hand to teach people about the fascinating winter sky constellations.

There will also be an outdoor bonfire for socializing and s’more making.

Candlelight Night is one of Woodland Dunes’ most popular outdoor programs, perfect for families, friends of nature or even a romantic date night. Cost is $5 per person for members and $15 per member family, or $10 per person for non-members and $25 per non-member family.

Pheasants Forever’s fundraising banquet is Feb. 8

The Sheboygan/Manitowoc Chapter of Pheasants Forever, a unit of Manitowoc County Fish & Game, will hold its 2025 fundraising banquet at Laack’s Ballroom, W4302 Highway JM, Sheboygan Falls (also known as Johnsonville) Feb. 8. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Funds support habitat restoration and youth education in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties. Your support helps with youth pheasant hunts, Camp Y Koda, youth trap shooting and more.

This past year, the chapter was able to assist landowners in developing 43 acres in new wildlife habitat using banquet money. This included a pollinator project with the Reedsville School District.

Reedsville club’s trap league starts Jan. 29

Reedsville Sportsman Club will start its winter trap league with open shooting from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 29 and 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 2.

The league shooting will then start at 6 p.m. Feb. 5 and 10 a.m. Feb. 9.
