Dropping Long Range Bombs |
Northland’s new balsa Lite-Bite Round and Casting Bobbers fly far and cast long |
BEMIDJI, Minn. (September 8, 2021) – Sometimes, you need to cast a country mile. Crappies start crashing on baitfish and you don’t want to disrupt the frenzy. You’re anchored and bluegills are popping in far away lily pads. Windblown walleyes are up against a rocky bank and you don’t want to risk a mangled prop. In all cases, the bobber and bait need to launch like a catapult. Fortunately, Northland’s new Lite-Bite Casting and Round Bobbers were conceived for making over-the-horizon casts. The balsawood Lite-Bite Casting Bobber features a military-style aerodynamic profile, intended for rocketry distances and traveling tangle-free in the air. Aiding and abetting the trajectory, Northland has included a lead weight just above the bottom spring-clip, adding both mass and a nosecone for long, straight firing casts. |

The bulbous, balsawood Lite-Bite Round Bobber is equally armed for long flights, and its increased size is ideal for buoying larger bait, like shiners, fatheads, chubs and light sucker minnows. Both the Lite-Bite Casting and Round Bobbers are meticulously painted and then coated with a clear lacquer finish to mitigate chipping. You’ll also appreciate the color spectrum. The stems are painted fluorescent orange, the brilliant brightness continuing onto the top of the body. At that point, florescent yellow takes over, greeting a white stripe and finishing into a rich and natural stained wood. The vibrant colors yield extreme visibility at distances and during low-light conditions, while also serving as metering to determine how sensitive the bobber is set, as determined by the mass of sinkers, size of the bait and or weight of the jig. The lower it floats on the surface, the more sensitive the setting. Both models sport easy switch, dual spring clips, one each on top and bottom. Anglers can quickly upsize or downsize float size, and without damaging the fishing line. For bombing big casts and maintaining tightrope shots, it’s recommended to secure the line on both spring clips. |

Bombs away, says Bro. Northland pro and angler’s favorite Brian “Bro” Brosdahl relies on weighted bobbers to reach shallow-going spring panfish. “Springtime is the best panfish bite of the year, but fish can be really shallow and easily spooked. It’s common to find crappies and bluegills in one- to three-feet of water. The Lite-Bite Casting Bobber let’s me back off the fish and hurl 50-, 100-feet or more. Casting distance is especially important in clear water.” Bro relies on the Lite-Bite Round Bobber as well. He unleashes them when extra visibility is required. “In low-light conditions, or throwing super long, the wider profile of the Lite-Bite Round Bobber keeps my eye on the ball,” said Bro. To that, he likes them for walleye fishing up against rock banks, as they’re easily seen and can handle some banging against the hard structure. The verdict is in. If you’re in hot pursuit of shallow ranging fish, the jury says you need the long-casting performance of Northland’s new Lite-Bite Casting and Round Bobbers. |
