Statement from Jim Dick, Communications Director:
The legislature’s Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules has voted to suspend a portion of the emergency rule aimed at preventing the spread of CWD. The emergency rule on carcass removal from CWD affected counties is no longer in effect but hunters can still play a key role in preventing the spread of CWD in Wisconsin. DNR encourages hunters to have their harvested deer tested for CWD and adhere to the baiting and feeding bans currently in place around the state. For more recommendations on slowing the spread of CWD go to:https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/WildlifeHabitat/documents/CWD_Info_Brochure2017.pdf You can find information on deer waste disposal at : https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/landfillmap.html
The separate vote to suspend the deer farm portion of the rule failed (4-6).
