DNR Fall Fishing Report, All Lake Michigan Reports Have Been Stopped for 2018

Green Bay/Fox River: November 13, 2018

Green Bay/Fox River

  • Fox Point – Walleye anglers reported some luck catching small sized fish. They were marking most of their walleye near the dam. Some whitefish were reported as well. No luck was had for muskellunge anglers this week. Water temperature was reported to be 35-36°F.
  • Brown County Fairgrounds – There were no trailers spotted. No interviews were taken. The docks have been taken out of the water.
  • Voyageur – There was low fishing pressure this weekend with folks out for walleye and yellow perch. Gizzard shad were spotted in abundance.
  • Metro Boat Launch – Folks that came in off the ramp had no luck with muskellunge. Water temperature was reported to be 39°F. Shore anglers out for walleye were unsuccessful.

Green Bay West Shore: November 13, 2018

Brown County

  • Suamico – There was low fishing pressure along the river this week and a small catch rate for yellow perch. Many folks were bringing in their boats to winterize. The water temperature was reported to be 33-34°F at the surface. Good luck was had using minnows and nightcrawlers.
  • Long Tail – No angler interviews were taken. Many of the boats coming in from the launch were duck hunters.
  • Duck Creek – The duck creek launch had low fishing pressure. The few shore anglers present were out for yellow perch but their sizes were small. There was low fishing pressure throughout the week and weekend. Ice was beginning to form around River’s Bend and the Deerfield docks. The water temperature was reported to be in the low to mid 30s.

Oconto County

  • Geano’s Beach – No angler interviews were taken. Many of the boats coming in from the launch were duck hunters. Last weekend brought strong wind and some snow cover.
  • Oconto River – Water temperatures ranged from 32 F to 42 F and flows ranged from 1400-1700 cubic feet per second throughout the week.
    • Breakwater Pier – High fishing pressure was recorded for both pier anglers and trailer counts. The most sought-after fish was yellow perch with few being caught. Many offshore anglers were using night crawlers or minnows to catch perch. The shore anglers using minnows had more success than those who used night crawlers.
    • All other Oconto River and Pensaukee River locations had little to no activity.

Marinette County

  • Menominee River – The water temperature of the Menominee River ranged between 35 F and 42 F throughout the week with an overall downward trend. Discharge ranged between 4500-7800 cubic feet per second and continues to be high for November. o
    • Hattie Street Dam – Moderate to high fishing pressure was observed below the dam on both shores and from the Hattie Street walkway. Walleye, whitefish, and brown trout were targeted, with moderate success. One fisherman was using salmon eggs as bait, which gave him some success earlier in the week.
    • Stephenson Island – shore and boat anglers had luck catching a few brown trout, rainbow trout, and walleye. One lucky angler reeled in a rainbow trout that measured 34 inches and weighed close to 17 pounds.
    • Red Arrow Park – A few shore anglers were targeting yellow perch.
    • Little to no fishing pressure was observed at other access locations on the Menominee River and Little River.
  • Peshtigo River – The Peshtigo River fell from 44 F down to 36 F by the weekend. Discharge ranged between 1300-2500 cubic feet per second and continues to be high for November.
    • Little to no fishing pressure was observed at the Peshtigo River sites, with only duck hunters utilizing some of the landings.
